April 6, 2009

A little over a week ago, about 25 people came to an initial meeting to hear
plans about next summer’s World Cup soccer outreach to South Africa. Having
led outreaches to five World Cups in the 1980’s and 1990’s, I am particularly
looking forward to next year’s outreach. It’s been over 10 years now since we
lived in South Africa. Since Richie plays soccer on his school’s varsity
team, it will be especially meaningful for me to co-lead an outreach with
Richie and his high school friends. We will stay at YWAM’s South Africa
national office in Worcester, about 40 miles north of Cape Town and we will
share more about this over the next year.
Speaking of South Africa, our MercyWorks team has been faithfully praying for her neighbor to the north, Zimbabwe. Under Robert Mugabe, this nation has spiraled down into unimaginable depths. We hope to send a team soon to Zimbabwe, once security concerns have been addressed. Our Youth With A Mission base has just released an excellent two minute movie trailer promoting the entry level training program known as Discipleship Training School. To view it, simply click here.
IN CLOSING … I will visit some of our friends, supporters and one of our sponsoring churches in southern California this month from April 9-19. In closing, please pray for our adoption of Favor from Ethiopia. It seems the United States Customs & Immigration Services is giving us the governmental run-around. |
